Born April 11, 1934, in Lafayette, she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Home Hospital School of Nursing's last class in 1955.
She married Donald R. Velten on Dec. 26, 1955, in Lafayette. He survives.
She worked at Home Hospital as a registered nurse for 35 years in labor and delivery, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, three camping clubs, the Gem and Mineral Club in Lafayette, and volunteered with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed traveling camping, flowers, gardening, and country music.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Diane Velten and Jolene Saltsman, both of Lafayette two sons, David Velten and Daniel Velten, both of Lafayette and a sister, Carol Starnes of Surprise, Ariz. |
