She was born on November 24, 1932 in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Louise (Fuchs) Stodden. Barbara and her family moved to Galena in 1934 and she graduated from Galena High School, the class of 1950. She graduated from Sauk Valley Community College with a degree in nursing. After graduation she worked in oncology at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Illinois. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Gordon) Watson; two grandchildren, Douglas and Sgt. Faith (Staff Sgt. Joe) Saunders; two great-grandchildren, Damian and Haden Frye; a sister, LaVon Buss of Galena; two brothers, Earl (Barbara) Stodden of Cannon Falls, Minn. and James (Sharon) Stodden of Galena; and many nieces and nephews. |
| Burial* | She was buried on 11 February 2012 in St. Mary's Cemetery, located in Galena, Jo Daviess County, Illinois. A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Church in Galena. Burial followed in the church cemetery after cremation.1 |
