Arthur J. Scherley

Arthur J. Scherley, 84, of County Road 24, Bellevue, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh, Fla.
He was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Reed Township, Seneca County to the late Charles and Celestine (Hahl) Scherley. On June 10, 1950, he married Mary Alice (Wise) Scherley. She survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Eugene Scherley of Bellevue; two daughters, Rosemarie Robinson of Columbus and Jane Oney of Shiloh; three grandchildren; five sisters, Rose Meggitt of Sandusky, Sister Mary Charles Scherely, St. Francis in Tiffin, Margaret Williams of Sandusky, Florence Evans of Vale, Ariz., and Bernadette Hahler of Republic.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Reed Assumption Catholic Church in Reed Township with the Rev. John Nagele officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue, with the Rosary being recited at 8 p.m.

Arthur J. Scherley

Arthur J. Scherley, 84, of CR 24, Bellevue, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, Lehigh, Fla.
Mr. Scherley was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Reed Township, Seneca County, to the late Charles and Celestine (Hahl) Scherley. He attended Reed School and had been a longtime member of Reed Assumption Catholic Church and had a dual membership at the Raphael Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres, Fla. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Attica, Ohio. He had been a lifetime farmer and a laborer at the former Hayes-Albin, Tiffin.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice (Wise) Scherley, whom he married June 10, 1950; two daughters, Rosemarie (Thomas) Robinson, Columbus; Jane (Kenneth) Oney, Shiloh, Ohio and a son, Eugene (Julie) Scherley, Bellevue. Three grandchildren, Andrew, Justin and Elizabeth Robinson also survive.
Five sisters, Rose Meggitt, Sandusky; Sister Mary Charles Scherley, St. Francis in Tiffin; Margaret Williams (Harry), Sandusky; Florence Evans, Vale, Ariz. and Bernadette Hahler, Republic, are the surviving siblings.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Edwin Scherley and three sisters, Helen Russett, Mary Laub and Lucille Rhoad. Visitation was Feb. 16, 2005 at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., N. SR 269, Bellevue.
The funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 17, 2005, at Reed Assumption Catholic Church, Reed Township, with the Rev. John Nagele officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reed Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, St. Francis Convent, Tiffin or the donor's choice.
